W-2s and 1099s typically begin printing early January and are mailed to the employees address in their employee profile. If the address is incorrect the W-2 would be returned to the Company address to be redistributed to the employee. If employees that have elected to receive and electronic W-2, those will not be printed and mailed, however terminated employees will be printed and mailed.
All paper W-2s are sent out for delivery by the fourth week of January.* IRS guidelines require that W-2s be postmarked to your employees by January 31st of each year. For ESS users, W-2s are posted online at that time.
*If you closed your business or terminated our services prior to running payroll in January, you will need to contact our Tax Department (tax@dominionpayroll.com) to arrange for payment before your W-2s can be shipped.
