IRS Q&A re: ACA and ALEs

The IRS has published a host of helpful information regarding ACA compliance on its website. The question and answer article regarding determination of applicable large employer (ALE) status is especially helpful.

It's important that you have an accurate understanding of how ALE status is determined by the IRS so that you can ensure you are in compliance and avoid being penalized by the IRS. Employers who are ALEs must comply with ACA provisions related to insurance offerings and special tax filings. Employers who are not ALEs are exempt from many of the ACA compliance regulations.
